disagree No matter which team goes through, it's a bloody distant city for all of us. So what pleasure is it, when for the second time I won't be able to follow my team (of course only IF we get over Beitar, which- to calm you guys down- is not so obvious)?
Besides, they have 90 000 seats and NO SUPPORTERS. If you win with us (tfu tfu), I am even willing to support you against them.

cracow is bloody distant and expensive city for all of us too, but still around 50 fans will fly to there. meeting Barcelona is a dream for almost every fan, especially beitar jerusalem fans. I'm sure IF we will win you, tickets for teddy will end after 2 hours.

In one hand being in champion leauge is a dream, but playing against barcelona in israel is dream as well. I rather lose to barcelona instead losting to other team and not to qualify to champion leauge. UEFA cup is fine for me, but anyway lets wait for our second game and may the best win.

I'm also quite sure wisla karkow fans are excited to meet barcelona Messi vs our shity defense LOL .

I think most of us would prefer FBK Kaunas or BATE Borysow instead I'd rather get through this one time, than lose against Barcelona again, no matter if the fight is to be beautiful. But on the other hand, I always liked UEFA Cup more- it's less about money, more about football.
Still- we'll know what to think about on wensday evening.

Very tough draw for the winner of Beitar Jerusalem - Wisla Cracow tie. Barcelona are clear and almost sure favourites to go through. Hopefully Wisla will win second leg and advance, because UEFA Cup is needed here in Cracow like oxygen for human.

Messi will be in beijing only at the first match, second game he will play. Guess this is one of the reasons they wanted to play outside as first match

Well.. I see Faith in Wislas and Beitars fans just blossom after the last draw.. Why tha f*ck are you so scared
to play against this bunch of Catalans Doesn't the last EURO finals ring a bell? There are No too strong
teams in Europe anymore. Today's Very different than, let's say - ten years ago. The gap is simply not that
damn huge anymore. Anything can happen.

And you say that having seen performances of Polish teams in recent years? I know that Barca is far from top form (at least last season...), but let's be honest. It's not 2001, I doubt we could repeat a "glorious loss" we had back then. Not in the way we played just 2 days back- you could be more realistic.
PS: I actually don't care about the 3rd round, I just wish to get there. Maybe egoistic, but it's more probable that I would be able to go to a game of UEFA Cup, than Champions League. So winning against Barcelona might be a nice surprise, but I don't find it essential and don't plan future celebrations yet. Althoguh my first thought just after noon was "hmm, so we'll just get through Barcelona and we're in!".

@Mishuh: Dude, have you forgot already our "glorious" battle against Dinamo?.. Or, how the great
Portugal was supposed to crush us in Euro qualifiers?.. Or, how we were supposed to crush Armenia for
Christ sakes !?.. It is The Real World. It is Not Football Manager. In Real World anything Can happen.
Being a realist sucks - it is still an illusion, because Nobody knows what will happen. If there was a way to
predict it - there wasn't be any point in playing the whole freaking game..

Yeah, I remmeber some of those games pretty good and can't agree a bit. If you even dare to compare Wisla to Barca in terms of proffesionalism, then we're on different planets. Wisla made a real shit of itself with Dinamo. I don't know who told you that Portugal was suppsoed to crush us, I haven't heard it. Just like I haven't heard of crushing Armenia, they've prooven to be a difficult rival in Poland and made an advantage in Erewan, just like they did to other teams in the group. Your examples proove ignorance and nothing else.
By the way- life is more brutal than FM, cause I've never had problems winning the UEFA Cup with Wisla there, while I suffered most when losing to 2nd league teams in Polish Cup

And I think you're exagerrating a bit Being realistic doesn't stop me from wishing the best to Wisla, but it wouldn't really bother me that much if wisla lost against Barcelona and I just realize this is the more probable option. It doesn't mean I have no faith, don't worry. But let's get back to Beitar, we'll have time for this chit chat if we get through Israelis.

I think Timmy's right. The gap between teams from different countries isn't as big as it used to be lets say in the late 90's. Not only did the less developed countries catch up with western Europe in terms of infrastructer, training and so on, but also todays "stars" can not be compared to players from the 90's, not to mention real stars like Pele, Platini, Cruyf, Beckenbauer or Boniek. To prove it, see that many players from the 90's generation not only play in top teams, but they are also stars there: Scholes, Giggs, Del Piero, Seedorf, Makelele even fat Ronaldo, who suffered from many serious injuries, still could teach these "stars" a thing or two.
Ofcourse we are not the favourites to win the tie against Barcelona, but they are a broken team with no spirit( I think that is what distincts the past and present footballers, these days football platers are more tabloid starlets and mercenaries than real sportsmen) and a whole lot of new players. I think that we have better chances than last time, when we had to face players like Rivaldo and Kluivert and we had Franz on our bench, and still we lost the home game due to a referee error. To win a tie against Barcelona would require a lot of faith and ambition from our players, but I still think it is possible to beat Barcelona.

Although I am writing from a Wisła fan point of view, meaning that I believe that Wisła will advance, what I've written concerns both Wisła and Beitar.

wohoo, how brave polish people can be. sending me mails over the forum with racist comments, especially this stupid paparapa.

Anyway, even if Barcelona is not good as before 2-3 years they are still 2 times better than wisla and Beitar jerusalem, even with the lineup B they will win us. seriously, there is no chance Barcelona won't qualify, it's always good to dream and have goals but winning them and qualify to champion leauge aspires to 0.

Barcelona changed "face", nowadays they have young and new coach, new young and hungry players who wants to win as much as possible, espeically champion leauge.

Yeah, I can see Boniek teach Makelele.... dream on. reality has changed. but one thing that hasn't hanged is the level of Polish teams. Period. for me. This year we're examining the possibility of advancing to the 3rd round. It used to be the minimum option. Judge yourself but next year, if we meet Nova Gorica or dDomzale, we might feel quite the same. Does it mean European football is more equal? No, it means we suck more than 2-3 years before, because we stand in one place, while the rest is moving on, meaning most of Balkans, post-soviet teams, etc. With all due respet to Beitar, but a few years back, we wouldn't even care for a match against them.
I never said wining against Barcelona is impossible, I just don't see this year's Wisla do it.

Well I don't like Boniek too much as a person not to mention his coaching achievements, but you can not deny that he was a great player one of the best of his times.
About us standing still or even going backwards, that is a fact that I can not deny. Still I believed after the first half of the rematch with Saragossa, so now I've got no other choice than to believe that Wisła will beat both Beitar and Barcelona.

Ok I'll rephrase my question, I've read some wikipedia article on you guys, but still I don't get how could you make a strictly jewish club in Jerusalem in 1936 as at that time there was no Israel, and Jewish players had to play in diaspora clubs in Europe? And to make that clear, I don't want to make fun of you nor to insult you, I'm simply curious.

I've got one question for Beitar fans, though it does noy concern our game it still interests me as a football fan. On one of your flags I've seen 1936, how come. I mean back then there was no Israel and it would have been quite difficult to form a strictly jewish football club in Jerusalem back in 1936. I see two explanaitions to this, one is that Beitar wasn't all-jewish at the begining, the second one is that you were some diaspora club in Europe and you moved to Jerusalem after Israel had been formed. Ofcourse I may be wrong and maybe you were able to form a strictly jewish club in Jerusalem back in 1936. Anyway could you explain this topic? And to make that clear, I don't want to make fun of you nor to insult you, I'm simply curious.
good one, you got me curious as well.

After Wiki:
"Two Jerusalemites, David Horn and Shmuel Kirschstein, decided in 1936 to form a local football team. David Horn was the local chief of Betar, the youth movement of the Revisionist (liberal nationalist) Party, a pre-statehood Zionist movement. To this day Beitar fans are generally identified with that movement's successor party, the Likud or other right-wing groups. The leaders of the youth federation saw this as a project to produce a football club with Beitar's self-defined qualities of Hadar (self-respect) and Hod (glory). The earliest squad was composed entirely of Beitar youth members, including a future government minister, Chaim Corfu. They played initially at the "banana field" close to Beitar youth group's "nest"."

A confirmation or denial maybe?

In 1906 there was no Poland yet Wisła was a strictly polish club.

If I remember correctly between 1920 and 1948 Palestine was in fact a British Mandate.
In 1920s Jews started migrating to Palestine, and that migration increased as a reslut of Third Reich politics.
I think it makes perfect sense.

TVP2 is the name. They could put the game on iTVP.pl afterwards (I wouldn't be sure though), but not live.
