Hey bros!
I just wanna come with my perspectives on Polands performance in Euro 2008! Expectations: I was fairly optimistic I must say. Mostly because this time, a foreign trener was coaching Poland. Also because of the brilliant qualification campaign. If Poland could play like they did at home against Portugal fx then there would be a fair chance of progress to the quarter finals. Evauation for: Goalkeeper: By far exceeded the expectations. Artur Boruc was outside the ranking! He was phenomenal. But one player doesn't make a squad. He can go home with his head up high among some of the few! Defenders: Simply embarrasing! I have never seen a defence being so undertimened, so unsecure and so poor! Jacek Bak and Mariusz Job's defending was horrifying to look at! Pawel Golanski was supposed to show that he has the class but failed misserably! Only bright spot was Kokoszka and Wawrzyniak who did fairly good. A DEFENCE SHOULD NOT PLAY WITH A FUCKING OFFSIDE TRAP IF THEY'RE HALF WAY ASLEEP! Midfield: Lewandowski tried to do his best. Dudka seemed unable to match the high pase of the games but fought decent. The problem of the midfield was not the handle of the ball but the lack of ideas! Bright spot was Roger Guerrero; he had the ideas but few of his teammates showed determination to follow them! Attack: Smolarek mostly alone with no support is not a good Ebi! I was happy when Zurawski got injured because he plays like shit! Saganowski wasn't much better! I'd like to have seen Pawel Brozek there! Overall evaluation: Beenhakker unfortunately made the same mistakes as Janas! Playing most games with midfield defending more than creating or attacking! And some times with only 1 striker! The offside strategy was ridicoules... the central defenders was far too slow to execute this well. I think last place in the group are well derserved... I still think the penalty against Austria was a travesty! But we were far away from the class of Croatia and Germany sadly! Only bright thing is that France was a greater let-down than us! What do you all think? Pozdrawiam! ![]()

What we lacked is surely Kuba and some luck- then at least 3 points would be guaranteed. For me this would be enough (I would be in heaven if it was 3 pts against Germany).
But let's face it- it's a success to be there at all for a team of our constitiution. Surely Beenhakker makes mistakes, he's human. but somehow I really like watching our national team a lot more than when Engel and Janas (not to mention Boniek!) were in charge. so it's a step by step procedure- krok po kroku, eh? ![]() ![]()

only Wisla. I'm happy, that national team came off from Euro 2008. I prefer Wisla's advance to CL than success national team

Happy? Why that? Thought that everyone wanna see our national team in quarterfinal. And possible Wisla advance doesnt have any connection with national team, if we take into account that only Dudka and Kokoszka played in Euro.

Pallamanski, the funniest thing about our defence is fact that we didn't meant to play offside trap. It wasn't our tactical goal! It makes our defence looks much much worse.
Our performance was big letdown because our best players was in very poor form. Maybe taking players like Brożek, Zieńczuk, Sikora or Jeleń could have been solution. Beenhakker decided to trust some players and they failed. I hope he'll stay on charge and next time won't do the same mistakes. ![]()

uuugh. very disapointed as i'm sure all Polish supporters are.
You know what though? I know a lot of time has passed, but i still can't get over that penalty call by that douchebag ref from the Austria game. I think after that goal was conceded, our boys were pretty mentally defeated. and frankly, i don't really blame them. The ref cost us that game directly. Sure Poland SHOULD have scored more than one goal... but the fact remains that game SHOULD have been a Polish victory. Still, the one big positive i take away from Euro was the play of Roger. The man was our best player by far. Seeing as he is still young, we can hope that he continues to improve and will be a staple on the national team for years to come. p.s. it would have been nice if Zurawski and Smolarek showed up at all. |

and yes. our defense stinks. Bak sucks. Other than Roger, the mid field was lousy.
The strikers were non-existant. I did think our wing play was good, but alas, we need a much better team effort. Borus was very good as usual. He must be getting tired of the same old sale old from the rest of the lads. |
